ArkivMusic was founded in 2002. We spent a great deal of time researching, designing, and building a web site for classical music shopping based on how real customers look for, find, and buy classical music. As you will see, it looks very different from any other online music store. The most radical departure that we take from other sites is the emphasis on finding music without typing things into a search box. We have found that the peculiarities of classical music does not always lend themselves to standard search tools used on the web. For many people, spelling inconsistencies or differing search syntax designs can often lead to very confusing results. We take a lot of the guesswork out of finding music by letting you click down a logical and well-categorized path to the works and recordings that you want.

Certified Folder Display Service, Inc. - Arlington, TX
Certified Folder Display Service, Inc. rack brochure distribution origins date back to 1899 in San Francisco, California.
Originally known as "The Peck-Judah Company", the company maintained towering oak visitor information brochure racks in the leading hotels and chambers of commerce.
In 1962, The Peck-Judah Company sold their rack brochure distribution service division to their Division Director, John W. Fearn. Mr. Fearn named the new company "Certified Folder Service". Certified was headquartered in San Francisco for many more years, and later moved to San Rafael, California.
Mr. Fearn selected a unique logo for Certified - our logo is derived from the International Code of Signals semaphore meaning "Stop, I have a message for you!" This has been a very appropriate logo for Certified, as our rack brochure distribution and brochure display racks serve as "visitor information centers" for the traveling public with helpful information on activities and attractions in the local area and region.
The company's name later was expanded to the current "Certified Folder Display Service, Inc.", and the headquarters were moved to San Diego, California in the early 70's. The company's corporate offices are now located in Vista, California.

Blue Dome District - Tulsa, OK
Another masterpiece of Art Deco along Route 66 in Tulsa is the Blue Dome. The Blue Dome was built in 1924 and served as a Gulf Oil Station. This was the first station in Oklahoma to have hot water, pressurized air and a car wash. It was also open 24 hours, seven days a week. The station attendant lived upstairs in the dome itself. This 1948 picture shows the Blue Dome in the hey-day of Route 66.
