Description: Golden, CO: Criminal defense lawyer represented defendant charged with vehicular homicide.

Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was charged with vehicular homicide for causing a fatal accident on Interstate 70 near Colorado Mills Mall in Lakewood that killed four poeple in 2019.

Aguilera-Mederos had pleaded not guilty to a total of 41 charges: 4 counts of vehicular homicide, 6 counts of first-degree assault, 10 counts of attempt to commit assault in the first degree- extreme indifference, two counts of vehicular assault- reckless, one count of reckless driving, four counts of careless driving causing death.

The crash killed Miguel Angel Lamas Arellano, 24, William Bailey, 67, Doyle Harrison, 61, and Stanley Politano, 69. Six others were injured.

The jury had to decide whether the crash resulted from a series of bad choices by the driver or a mechanical failure that the driver had no control over.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty and was sentenced to 110-years in prison. On motion to reconsider and will broad community and political support, the Judge reduced the sentenced to 10 years.
