Description: Bangor, Maine criminal defense lawyer represented defendant charged with passing counterfeit obligations (bills) in violation of 18 U.S. Code § 472.

On July 23, 2018, Jessica Jones, age 31, used counterfeit $20 bills at a Domino’s Pizza and a McDonald’s in Presque Isle. Jones later stated that she had received the counterfeit money from an individual who was trading counterfeit bills for drugs.

The Presque Isle Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service investigated the case.

Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to two months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
