The Family and Estate of Peter Smith, age 25, sued Dr. John Henson and Mercy Hospital in Portland on a medical malpractice negligence theory claim that Dr. Henson's failure to diagnose the cause of Peter Smith's rashes, fever, chills, dizziness and headaches in 2017.
Mr. Smith was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, but died as a result of the infection.
Plaintiffs claimed that the care provided by Dr. Henson fell below the standard of care.
