Plaintiff's Attorney: George Siller

Description: Princeton, WV - The State of West Virginia charged Donald Blankenship, age 47, with felony attempted arson, domestic battery and violation of domestic violence protective order.
The charges arose from two separate incidents on March 14. Sgt. S. Cary of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from Princeton Community Hospital after Harold Blankenship, Donald Blankenship’s 75-year-old father, was transported from his Montcalm home with an open head wound, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler said. Sitler tried the case Dec. 8.
The father told Cary that his son, who had been drinking all night, attacked him after he refused to drive to a liquor store, Sitler said. Harold Blankenship said he hit his son first with a piece of firewood, but then his son took the wood and struck him on the head.
Outcome: Defendant was found guilty in 13 minutes and faves two years in prison for fourth-degree arson, one year for domestic battery and one year for violation of a protective order.
