Relator, Frederick Manuel, asks this Court to order the trial court to rule on a
motion he filed “concerning the withdrawal of money from his trust-fund
account.”
1

This Court’s jurisdiction to issue mandamus relief is governed by Texas
Government Code section 22.221, which provides that we may issue mandamus
1 The underlying case is The State of Texas v. Frederick Manuel, Cause Number
D-1-DC-13-904096, pending in the 331st District Court of Travis County, Texas,
the Honorable Chantal Eldridge presiding.
2
relief to enforce our jurisdiction or against the judge of a district, statutory court,
statutory probate county, or county court in the court of appeals district. See TEX.
GOV’T CODE ANN. § 22.221(a), (b). Relator requests that we issue a writ of
mandamus against the judge of the 331st District Court of Travis County, Texas.
Travis County is not within the First Court of Appeals District but is within the
Third Court of Appeals District. See id. § 22.201(d). Thus, we lack jurisdiction to
issue a writ of mandamus against a judge of a district court in Travis County.

Outcome: We dismiss the petition for writ of mandamus for lack of jurisdiction. We
dismiss any pending motions as moot.
