Description: St. Charles, MO - Bryan Spencer sued the Francis Howell School Board of Directors on a First Amendment violation theory claiming that his free speech rights were violated when it fired him from his teaching job in 2013. He also challenged the Board's refusal to give him unpaid leave of absence while he was serving in the legislature.
Plaintiff claimed that he, a Republican, was treated differently than other teachers who sought leaves of absence to work on education issues for the Missouri National Education Association, who he claimed were Democrats.
Spencer taught for the school system for 22 years.
