Description: Medford, OR - Brookings Man Receives Federal Prison Sentence for Manufacturing Hash Oil and Endangering Human Life

United States District Court Judge Michael J. McShane sentenced Troy Allen Wyatt, 44, to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to manufacturing hash oil and endangering human life. Wyatt currently resides in Brookings, Oregon.

According to court documents, Wyatt accidentally started a fire in January 2016 while making hash oil at his home in Medford. The fire started when propane gas ignited during the manufacturing process and resulted in $12,798 in property damage. Wyatt’s 13-year-old daughter was in the home during the fire but was not injured.

Wyatt will remain out of custody pending a voluntary surrender date to be determined by the court. He was ordered to pay restitution to the property owner and an insurance company.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Medford Police Department.

Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
