Description: Clarksburg, West Virginia criminal defense lawyer represented Defendant charged with a firearm felony.

Bukiye Hatten, 38, from Morgantown, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of “Aiding and Abetting the False Statement in Connection with the Acquisition of Firearms.” Hatten admitted to working with others to illegally purchase several firearms from a licensed dealer in Monongalia County in November 2019.

Hatten faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
