Description: Denver, Colorado, pro se Plaintiff sued his lawyer to remove his lawyer on its state criminal case. Sidley-Mackie allegedly refused to do so and instead fraudulently represented to the Colorado Court of Appeals that Ortiz may not be competent to self- represent. Based on these allegations, Ortiz filed this federal lawsuit under 42 U.S.C. ยง 1983 claiming that Sidley-Mackie had violated his constitutional rights.
Outcome: Dismissed. Affirmed.
