Los Angeles, CA - Marcus Gray, Chike Ojukwu and Emanuel Lambert sued Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, p/k/a Katy Perry, Sarah Theresa, Hudson, Capital Records, LLC, Karl Martin Sandberg, p/k/a Max Martin, Kitty Purry, Inc., Kasz Money, Inc., UMG Recordings, Inc., University Music Group, Inc., W.B. Music, Corp., Kobalt Music Publishing America, Inc. on copyright infringement theories claiming that the copied substantial parts of a Christian rap song that wrote in producing Perry's 2013 Grammy-winning song "Dark Horse" in 2014.

Plaintiffs claimed that "Dark Horse" borrowed substantially from the Christian rap song "Joyful Noise," which Gray released in 2009 under the name Flame.

Defendants denied wrongdoing.
