James Richard Cartright, of Philippi, West Virginia, age 34, pleaded guilty in January 2022 to one count of “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.” Cutright, a person prohibited from having a firearm because of a prior conviction, admitted to having a 16-gauge shotgun in February 2020 in Barbour County.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives investigated.

Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to 36 months in prison.
