Additional Information: John A. (Jad) Davis is one of the firm's founders and heads the trial practice at DGC Law. He has been the lead trial attorney in numerous complex and high-profile lawsuits in the Permian Basin, throughout Texas, and in New Mexico. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in trials and arbitrations. Since the firm's founding in 1994, Jad has played a key role in building the firm's stature as a respected legal services provider to the energy industry. He has represented many large public companies and independent oil and gas producers and operators, including members of the Fortune 500, as well as smaller privately-owned companies. In the process, he has helped the firm to establish numerous ongoing relationships with major oil and gas companies. To this end, Davis, Gerald & Cremer was named in 2008 as a Go-To Law Firm for Oxy/Occidental Petroleum by Forbes magazine. Jad has represented energy companies in disputes that are directly related to the oil and gas business, as well as associated commercial litigation. He also handles lawsuits for companies outside the oil and gas sector, including companies involved in real estate investment and management, financial services, and equipment and product manufacturing. His overarching case philosophy, which has shaped the trial group's approach as a whole, focuses on treating all cases as though they are going to trial from the start. This approach leads to increased efficiencies, often facilitates settlement, and ensures that each case is positioned optimally for trial. Because litigation can be time-consuming, Jad and the entire trial team at DGC Law make a point of bringing focused energy and attention to each case to promote timely and effective outcomes. While the firm successfully settles many cases, Jad frequently tries lawsuits for his clients and is known for his expertise in the courtroom. He has extensive experience in sophisticated litigation that typically involves multiple parties and complex factual, legal, and procedural issues. He often represents energy clients in contractual disputes involving oil and gas leases, land title conveyances, purchase and sale agreements, gas processing agreements, operating agreements, and drilling contracts, as well as environmental cases tied to oil and gas operations, including ground water contamination and surface pollution claims. Jad also frequently handles contract-based litigation for companies and individuals operating outside the oil and gas sector, including matters involving general partnership disputes and accounting issues, as well as claims of breach of fiduciary duty, tort actions, and claims of unfair competition and alleged violation of non-compete agreements. Jad also defends clients in serious personal injury matters that primarily relate to the defense of self-insured companies or involve high-dollar claims. In addition, he often works closely with in-house counsel to handle employment and labor issues, including matters relating to age discrimination, sexual harassment, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Jad is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has received a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating from his peers for ability and professionalism, the highest rating available.
