Description:
Joseph Doescher sued Dr. Daniel Raess for intentional infliction of emotional distress and the damages that the heart surgeon's behavior in an operating room in November 2001 caused. He claimed that Raess yelled at him and lunged at him during the confrontation. Doescher, a Saint Francis Hospital perfusionist with 17 years of employment at the hospital, claimed that Raess' behavior in the operating room made it impossible for him to return to work. Doescher was earning $100,000 a year before the incident and now earns only $20,000 working in a dog kennel.
Dr. Raess denied wrongdoing and claimed that Doescher was a willing participant in the "shouting match" in the operating room.
