Originally, sworn into office on January 12, 2009 by the Hon. Judge David F. Brewster. He was re-elected, in a contested race, in November 2012 to a second term in office and was sworn in on January 14, 2013. Gayoso has argued before the Kansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and in 1999 was selected as a member to the National Order of Barristers for his courtroom advocacy skills. He earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas in 1999 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA), was President of the KBA Criminal Law Section, member of the Crawford County Bar Association (Past President), the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association, the National District Attorneys Association and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Gayoso is married to Candace Brewster-Gayoso and they have three children.
