Additional Information: Tyler J. Smith joined Libby O�Brien Kingsley & Champion as an associate in 2012. His practice includes a wide array of civil litigation and criminal defense matters�ranging from drunk driving defense to employment discrimination to defamation. Tyler is also an experienced appellate advocate. He has handled over 20 appeals, and has argued before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He has authored amicus curiae briefs on behalf of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Tyler is happy to serve as appellate counsel in cases where trial counsel wishes to have another attorney handle the appeal. Please click here for a writing sample. Throughout law school, Tyler frequently competed in appellate moot court competitions. He won first place in two internal competitions at his law school, first place in two national competitions, and was recognized as �Best Oralist� at the 2009 Regent University National Moot Court Competition. After graduating, Tyler served as a law clerk in the Maine Superior Court, working with Hon. Donald H. Marden, Hon. Nancy Mills, Hon. M. Michaela Murphy, and Hon. John C. Nivison. With the exception of law school, Tyler is a lifetime resident of southern Maine. Tyler enjoys running, skiing, and playing guitar and mandolin.
