Description: Washington, DC: Employment law lawyer represented Plaintiffs who sued Defendants on a Fair Labor Standards Act violation
theory.

"The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is a federal law that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting employees in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments.

The FLSA applies to all employers who have at least two employees who work in the United States. The law does not apply to some types of employees, such as agricultural workers, babysitters, and family members who work for their parents.

The FLSA sets a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. Employers must pay their employees at least the minimum wage for all hours worked.

The FLSA also requires employers to pay overtime pay to employees who work more than 40 hours in a workweek. Overtime pay is equal to one and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay.

The FLSA requires employers to keep records of their employees' hours worked, wages paid, and other information. These records must be kept for at least three years.

The FLSA prohibits the employment of minors in certain types of jobs and for certain hours. The law also sets restrictions on the number of hours that minors can work.

The FLSA is enforced by the Wage and Hour Division of the United States Department of Labor. If you believe that your employer is violating the FLSA, you can file a complaint with the Wage and Hour Division."
