Guatemalan Man Previously Deported Three Times Sentenced to Seven Months in Prison for Illegal Reentry
Genaro Romero-Romos, 34, is a citizen of Guatemala who had been deported from the United States on three prior occasions and served two prior sentences for immigration offenses. In November 2023, Romero-Romos was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Immigration and Customs Enforcement became aware of Romero-Romos’ unlawful presence in the United States following this arrest.
Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations made the announcement. Assistant United States Attorney Brian Sullivan of the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
Outcome:
Defendant was found guilty and sentenced to seven months in prison and one year of supervised release
