Jason Lewis shot and killed 13-year-old Karon Blake, a middle schooler, on Qunicy Street in Washington for breaking into his car.
Lewis took the stand in his defense and said that as he opened the gate to his patio, he saw a gun pointed at him from the driver’s side of a car parked in the alley. He said he saw a flash and heard a bang. He fired when he said he saw Blake running toward him.
Whoever is guilty of manslaughter shall be sentenced to a period of imprisonment not exceeding 30 years. In addition to any other penalty provided under this section, a person may be fined an amount not more than the amount set forth in § 22-3571.01.
