The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination in many areas of life:
Employment
The ADA prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities in employment. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state and local civil rights enforcement agencies enforce this part of the ADA.
State and local government
The ADA protects people with disabilities from discrimination in state and local government services.
Public accommodations
The ADA protects people with disabilities from discrimination in public accommodations.
Transportation
The ADA protects people with disabilities from discrimination in transportation. Public transportation offered by a state or local government is covered by Title II, while privately funded transportation is covered by Title III.
Telecommunications
