Description:

Boston, Massachusetts criminal defense lawyer represented the Defendant charged with first-degree murder.

Brian Joyce, 30, of Dorchester, was accusedof murdering Marcus Dunn-Gordon, 27, of Randolph, on Sept. 16, 2019,

According to the DA's office, Dunn-Gordon was at Boston Bowl, located at 800 Morrissey Boulevard, with friends when a verbal altercation began between that group and Joyce. They decided to leave, but Joyce followed them outside, and there was a confrontation in the parking lot.

"A physical fight ensued, and Joyce pulled out a firearm and shot Dunn-Gordon," Hayden's office wrote. "Dunn-Gordon ran across the parking lot and collapsed inside the lobby of the Ramada Inn."

Joyce was on probation at the time of the shooting and was wearing a location-monitoring device after being convicted of an armed robbery with a firearm, and the DA's office said he was also facing additional drug charges.

“Marcus Dunn-Gordon tried to do the right thing that night by leaving Boston Bowl to avoid further confrontation with Brian Joyce. But Joyce made the terrible decision to follow Marcus out to the parking lot. He confronted Marcus again, pulled out a gun and shot him to death. I thank the jurors for their deliberation and verdict, and I offer Marcus’s family and friends my deepest sympathies,” Hayden said in a statement.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty.
