Chase Downey thought of himself as the type of drug trafficker “people make movies about.” Video Interview, R. 84 at 2:00. But a life with a riveting plot had its downside. Like silver screen characters from Tony Montana to Tony Soprano, Downey feared that “someone was trying to get me.” R. 135, PageID 1010. With this in mind, Downey reached out to the Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA)a sting operation for them involving more than 100 kilograms of cocaine. But Downey ailed to follow up, and he did not become an informant for the DEA.

Outcome: Affirmed
