On March 9, 2017 Officers Trevor Jackson and Casey Thomas responded to an emergency call about a man with a baseball bat hitting tress and chasing people. Eventually, the officers shot and killed Steven Schiltz for refusing to drop a sharpened stick that he was holding and approaching a woman and her her then-6-year-old son.
Steven Schiltz was mentally ill. He mother claimed that the officers used excessive force in responding to the situation.
