Former sheriff's deputy Andrew Buen was indicted for murder for criminal negligence homicide for killing Christian Glass in 2022.

Glass, age 22, was experiencing a mental health crisis when he was shot and killed by Buen.

Eight law enforcement officers were charged in the case, according to the district attorney’s office, and four of the cases are still pending. Six officers who were at the scene were charged in November 2023 with one count each of failure to intervene, a misdemeanor.

"Any person who causes the death of another person by conduct amounting to criminal negligence commits criminally negligent homicide which is a class 5 felony." Section 18-3-105 - Criminally negligent homicide

Outcome: The defendant was found guilty criminal negligent homicide and not guilty of second-degree murder.
