Denise Logon and Dorothy Robinson sued Tir-Star Imports, Inc. on job discrimination and hostile environment theories claiming that they were pressed to negotiate deals with African-Americans that they knew weren't fair.
The claimed that Back customer were treated differently.
“And these are people who are buying Mercedes Benz cars. So, to assume that people who had come to a dealership to buy a Mercedes Benz automobile were not people of means, that's a classic stereotype.”
“There would be the assumption that Black customers were going to have to pay a higher interest rate because their credit wouldn't be any good,” their lawyer said. “So there were a number of different ways in which Black people were just simply treated differently as customers."
Outcome: IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, SDJUDGED, AND DECREED THAT JUDGMENT IS ENTERED IN FAVOR OF PLAINTIFF LIGON AGAINST TRI-STAR IMPORTS, INC. IN THE SUM OF $870,000 FOR HER TOTAL DAMAGES AND IN FAVOR OF PLAINTIFF ROBINSON AND AGAINST DEFENDANT TRI-STAR IMPORTS, INC. IN THE SUM OF $940,000 FOR HER TOTAL DAMAGES.
