"Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. It was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 2, 1964.

Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, labor unions with 15 or more members, and employment agencies. It covers all aspects of employment, including hiring, firing, compensation, training, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Title VII prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. It also prohibits retaliation against employees who file a complaint of discrimination or who cooperate in an investigation of a complaint.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing Title VII. The EEOC can investigate complaints of discrimination, issue right-to-sue letters, and file lawsuits against employers who violate the law.

Employees who believe they have been discriminated against can file a complaint with the EEOC. They can also file a lawsuit in federal court.

Title VII has been a landmark law in the fight for equal rights in the United States. It has helped to eliminate discrimination in employment and has made it easier for people of all races, colors, religions, sexes, and national origins to get a fair shake in the workplace."
