Matthew Mireles was accused of refusing to stop his vehicle for a traffic stop in January 2019. The police pursued Mireles from Karnes County into Bexar County with Mireles shooting at officers several times. A K-9 officer then deployed K-9 Chucky, a 5-year old Belgian Malinois, in an effort to subdue Mireles. The dog bit Mireles before he shot and killed the dog.
