Description: San Antonio, Texas criminal law lawyer represented Defendant charged with interfering with a police service animal, one count of evading arrest, and eight counts of aggravated assault of a public servant.

Matthew Mireles was accused of refusing to stop his vehicle for a traffic stop in January 2019. The police pursued Mireles from Karnes County into Bexar County with Mireles shooting at officers several times. A K-9 officer then deployed K-9 Chucky, a 5-year old Belgian Malinois, in an effort to subdue Mireles. The dog bit Mireles before he shot and killed the dog.

Defendant was a convicted felon.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty and faces 25-years in prison.
