In October and November 2020, Audrey Jerome Pruitt, age 39, illegally possessed an American Tactical, Omni Hybrid, .223/.556 caliber pistol, and a Springfield .40 caliber pistol. Pruitt is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of prior felony convictions. In April 2008, Pruitt was convicted in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County for Robbery, First Degree and Receiving Stolen Property, and in March 2019, he was convicted of Domestic Violence, Second Degree. 

ATF investigated the case, along with the Birmingham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Darius C. Greene and Michael Royster prosecuted the case.
