Injunctive relief: Injunctive relief is a court order that prohibits the defendant from continuing to discriminate against the individual.
Compensatory damages: Compensatory damages are damages that are intended to compensate the individual for the harm that they have suffered as a result of the discrimination.

Enforcement of the ADA

The ADA is enforced by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The DOJ is responsible for enforcing the ADA in all areas of public life except for employment. The EEOC is responsible for enforcing the ADA in employment.

Individuals with Disabilities

Under the ADA, a person with a disability is defined as someone who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Major life activities include activities such as walking, talking, eating, sleeping, and working.
