Description: Jacksonville, Florida criminal defense lawyer represented Defendant charged with possessing with the intent to distribute fentanyl and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
On April 27, 2022, officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from an individual who saw White waving a firearm outside of a grocery store. When Johnny Deangelo White (46, Jacksonville) saw the officers, he fled into the store and threw the firearm into a shelf of potato chips. The loaded, stolen, firearm was recovered, and White was arrested. The officers found on White’s person a sunglasses case that contained fentanyl. The amount of fentanyl and the way it was packaged was indicative that White was selling fentanyl. White later admitted to selling fentanyl since the early part of 2022. White is a seven-time convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John Cannizzaro. The forfeiture will be handled by Assistant United States Attorney Mai Tran.
