Sexual abuse of a minor is a serious crime in Indian Country, and the penalties for this crime can be severe. The Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Act (ICPFVA) is the primary federal law that addresses sexual abuse of minors in Indian Country. The ICPFVA defines sexual abuse of a minor as any sexual act with a person under the age of 16.

The ICPFVA also establishes a number of penalties for sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country. These penalties include imprisonment for up to life, fines of up to $250,000, and probation. In addition, the ICPFVA requires sex offenders to register with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).

The Mann Act prohibits the transportation of a person across state lines for the purpose of engaging in prostitution or other unlawful sexual activity. The Crimes Against Children Act prohibits a number of crimes against children, including sexual abuse of a minor.
