Additional Information: John Kane is a partner in the firm's Stamford, Connecticut, office and a member of the firm's Litigation Section. He practices primarily in the areas of insurance, products liability, fire and explosion, construction, and complex commercial litigation. He currently serves as the cochair of both the firm's Products Liability Group and Fire and Explosion Group. He has successfully litigated multimillion-dollar cases for large, publicly held corporations in federal and state courts throughout the country. He has represented businesses involved in nationwide retailing, manufacturing, distribution, importing, and construction. In the insurance area, his focus is on large loss subrogation, arson, and fraud cases. His products liability practice focuses primarily on fire and explosion cases, but he has also defended numerous other manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in more traditional wrongful death or personal injury products liability suits. In the construction area, he has represented major contractors, owners, and municipalities and procured multimillion-dollar settlements in construction/design disputes. The complex commercial matters he has handled often involve claims of fraud and requests for exemplary damages and fees. In addition to his trial experience, he has extensive alternative dispute resolution experience and has served as both a mediator and arbitrator in a variety of disputes.
